Serving Clinton
Roll-off dumpsters delivered to Clinton
Clinton is the DeWitt County seat and the biggest town we serve outside Bloomington-Normal, which changes the character of the work. There is a courthouse square, a nineteenth century downtown, older residential streets with real architecture, a nuclear plant and a lake that draws people from three counties. Abraham Lincoln argued cases here on the Eighth Judicial Circuit and spoke on the square. For us that means commercial and municipal jobs alongside the usual house work, plus a steady run of lake property projects out toward Weldon Springs and Clinton Lake. It is thirty minutes down the four-lane, which makes it one of our easier long runs.
The town has been on the rise since 1835, as the motto says, and its best buildings show it: the C.H. Moore Homestead, now the DeWitt County Museum, and the Vespasian Warner Public Library, both founded on the fortune and the seven thousand volume library of a nineteenth century lawyer. Clinton Lake, six miles out, cools the power station and anchors Weldon Springs State Recreation Area. The Apple and Pork Festival brings in a crowd ten times the town's population. Housing runs from square-built Victorians with plaster, lath and slate near the square, through post-war ranches, to newer builds on the edges. Downtown storefronts have flat roofs, back-alley access and the layered renovations of a hundred and fifty years. Outside the city limits it is DeWitt County farm ground, with the outbuilding and machine shed work that comes with it.

Routes & coverage
Getting to Clinton from Bloomington
US-51 south from Bloomington is four-lane through Heyworth and most of the way to Clinton, about half an hour door to door. IL-54 and IL-10 carry us east and west through town once we are there. For lake properties we come off US-51 onto the county roads toward Weldon Springs, where the last stretch is narrow, wooded and worth scouting before a loaded return trip.

Local rules
Placement and permits in Clinton
On private property — a driveway, a yard, a farm lane, a job site — you will not normally need a permit anywhere in DeWitt County, and that covers the large majority of our Clinton deliveries. What matters far more is whether the surface can take the weight and whether the truck can physically get in.
If the container has to sit on a public street, terrace, alley or right-of-way in Clinton, that usually changes. Check with City of Clinton before you book, and expect requirements around reflectors, barricades or overnight lighting. DeWitt County handles matters outside village and city limits. Rules genuinely differ from one municipality to the next around here, so please do not rely on what a neighbour in another town was told.
A few practical things that come up repeatedly in Clinton:
- Access. Our truck needs roughly 60 feet of straight approach and about 23 feet of vertical clearance to raise the hoist. Mature trees and low service drops rule out the bigger containers on plenty of older streets.
- Spring thaw. March and April are the highest-risk window in DeWitt County. Saturated ground, soft lawns and posted weight limits on rural roads all bite at once. Tell us the surface and we will plan around it.
- Winter. Frozen ground actually drives beautifully; ice does not. Clear and sand the placement area before we arrive, and remember snow and rain add real weight to an open container.
- Summer heat. Asphalt softens badly on a hot July afternoon. We book morning deliveries where we can and always put boards down.
- Covenants. Newer subdivisions sometimes restrict how long a container can sit visible from the street. Worth a two-minute check.
Our permit and placement guide goes into more depth, and this article covers driveway protection properly.

Answers
Dumpster rental in Clinton — common questions
Do you serve DeWitt County or only McLean?
We serve both, and Clinton is a straight thirty-minute run on the US-51 four-lane, easier than plenty of McLean County addresses. County lines make no difference to our pricing, which is flat and quoted before you book. For a downtown or commercial job we will come out and look at access first if that helps.
What is involved in renovating a Victorian near the square?
More weight than you plan for. Those houses carry plaster and lath on every wall and ceiling, heavy trim, cast iron and sometimes slate roofing, and all of it is dense. We normally set a 20 yard and swap rather than send a 30 that reaches its tonnage half full. Salvageable trim, doors and hardware are worth pulling before demolition starts.
Can you deliver to a cabin near Clinton Lake?
Usually yes, with the same checks we make on any wooded lot: lane width, overhead clearance and a firm place to set the box. The roads around Clinton Lake and Weldon Springs run through timber and drop toward the water in places, so we may set a 10 or 15 yard nearer the road rather than take a loaded truck down a soft grade.
Can you work around a business staying open during renovation?
That is normal for us on the Clinton square. We deliver and swap early, before trading hours, and place the container in an alley or rear lot so customer parking is not lost. Tell us your hours and the loading access, and we will set a window and keep to it rather than turning up whenever the run happens to reach you.
